By Afolabi NelsonThe Federal High Court in Abuja has thrown out the ₦100 billion lawsuit filed by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE against the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and others over a fuel import licence dispute.
Justice Mohammed Umar dismissed the case after Dangote Refinery’s lawyer, C.O. Adegbe, applied to withdraw it.
The suit had challenged the licences issued by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to NNPCL and five other companies to import refined petroleum products. Dangote also sought ₦100 billion in damages.
Meanwhile, NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, said the company plans to increase its stake in Dangote Refinery to 20 per cent during the ongoing Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).
