Jason Derulo Says He Will No Longer Stay Alone With Female Colleagues After Costly Harassment Lawsuit Battles

By Afolabi Nelson

American singer Jason Derulo says he has permanently changed how he conducts himself professionally, vowing never again to be alone in a room with a female colleague.

Derulo explained that the move follows an almost two-year legal battle over sexual harassment allegations filed by aspiring artist Emaza Dilan a case he says has cost him millions in lost endorsements and damaged relationships, despite being dismissed twice in other states.

Speaking with Graham Bensinger, Derulo said:
“I will never be alone in a room with a woman that I work with… ever, ever again. That case was dismissed twice. And I lost so many brand deals, relationships off of a story that was not even slightly believable. Why didn’t they post the dismissal at least? Wouldn’t that be fair?”

Dilan has now refiled her lawsuit in New York after earlier filings were dismissed on procedural grounds in California and Nevada. No court has yet ruled on the merits of the allegations, but Derulo says the prolonged dispute has already reshaped his professional boundaries and the way he interacts with women in the industry.
