The Coordinator of Justice Vanguard, Mr. Obafemi Ajayi, has denied media reports claiming that the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, was suspended.
Ajayi clarified that Professor Fasina only went on a six-month leave approved by the university’s Governing Council in April 2025 and resumed duty on October 14, 2025. He added that the Vice Chancellor had been cleared of all sexual harassment allegations by the Police and two separate panels.
He described the suspension claims as false and intended to mislead the public, urging Nigerians to disregard such reports and focus on FUOYE’s progress and stability.
Reacting to a viral video showing a guard of honour, Ajayi explained that it was a routine university tradition to welcome principal officers, including both the Vice Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor.
Ajayi commended FUOYE’s staff and students for maintaining peace and discipline during the Vice Chancellor’s leave, describing the institution as a model of transparency and growth in Nigeria’s education sector.
