Lagos APC Criticises Sowore Over Planned “Release Nnamdi Kanu” Protest

By Afolabi Nelson

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has criticised activist Omoyele Sowore for planning a protest to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, the party said Sowore was once again seeking attention by involving himself in matters that do not concern him. Oladejo described Sowore’s move as “baffling and laughable,” saying it was disrespectful for someone with no link to the Southeast to claim to speak for Ndigbo.

He questioned why Sowore was commenting on a case already before the court, accusing him of hypocrisy for preaching democracy and rule of law while undermining both through his actions.

Oladejo said Sowore’s activism had become shallow and opportunistic, driven more by publicity than principle.

He added that the Igbo people are capable of representing their own interests with wisdom and dignity, not through street protests or social media drama. Oladejo reminded Sowore that legal matters should be resolved in court, not through public agitation.
