Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, on his emergence as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.

Guwor was elected at the General Meeting of the Conference held in Abuja on Monday, a development seen as placing Delta State at the forefront of legislative leadership and strengthening inter-parliamentary collaboration across the country.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori described Guwor’s emergence as well deserved, noting that it reflects his legislative experience, leadership capacity and commitment to democratic governance.

The governor, a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and past Treasurer and Deputy Chairman of the Speakers’ Forum, said the Conference of Speakers plays a strategic role in Nigeria’s democratic framework, particularly in fostering cooperation among state legislatures and promoting good governance.

Oborevwori said Guwor’s election was not only a personal achievement but also a recognition of the maturity, stability and progressive outlook of the Delta State legislature.

He expressed confidence that Guwor would lead the Conference with wisdom, inclusiveness and a reform-driven approach, strengthening synergy among state assemblies and other arms of government in the interest of national development.

Guwor’s emergence is widely regarded as a boost to Delta State’s profile in national legislative affairs and a testament to its growing influence in shaping democratic governance in Nigeria.
