Presidency, APC Slam Atiku Over Revolution Warning

By Afolabi Nelson

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has faced criticism after warning that a revolution could break out in Nigeria due to hunger and hardship.

The Presidency, in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, said Atiku’s comments show he is stuck in the past and out of touch with current realities. Onanuga argued that the Tinubu administration is making progress and dismissed Atiku’s comparison of Nigeria’s situation to historic revolutions in France and Russia as misleading.

APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, also faulted Atiku, describing his remarks as reckless. He said the former vice president was the only one seeing hopelessness where others see hope.

Atiku, who ran as PDP’s presidential candidate in 2023, has insisted that Tinubu’s government has made no impact in two years. He blamed past PDP administrations for corruption and weak foundations, saying the country would have been better if those issues were avoided.
