Tinubu has congratulated Abagun Kole Omololu, a prominent chieftain of the Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a man of integrity, loyalty and enduring commitment to nation-building.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said Omololu’s life and public service reflected a steadfast devotion to the preservation of Yoruba heritage, democratic ideals and good governance.
Tinubu noted that the Afenifere leader has remained at the forefront of Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle for decades, while promoting unity and solidarity across Yorubaland.
He recalled Omololu’s role in NADECO Abroad, which internationalised the fight for the June 12 mandate and the end of military rule, adding that he remains a prominent member of Idile Odua.
The President commended Omololu’s principled positions on national issues and his unwavering support for the leadership of Afenifere under Pa Reuben Fasoranti, describing his stance as noteworthy.
Tinubu also acknowledged Omololu’s support for him and the Renewed Hope administration, saying his commitment to progressive politics and democratic stability has been consistent over the years.
He prayed for long life, wisdom and God’s grace for Omololu as he marks 70, the Biblical age of three score and ten.
Omololu is widely regarded as a key figure in the pro-democracy movement and an influential voice in socio-political mobilisation in the Southwest.
