World Cup Playoffs: Chelle Finalizes Super Eagles Squad After Fitness Boost for Key Players
By Afolabi Nelson
Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has made final changes to the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 World Cup playoff against Gabon, following the return of three key players from injury.
The updated list has been sent to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), but its release was delayed until medical clearance was confirmed for Samuel Chukwueze, Raphael Onyedika, and Zaidu Sanusi. Team officials have now confirmed that all three are fully fit and ready for selection ahead of the first leg on November 13 in Morocco.
A source in the team said the final squad will be announced within 48 hours, with only a few new faces expected. The return of Chukwueze, Onyedika, and Sanusi is seen as a big boost for Chelle, as Nigeria looks to beat Gabon and move closer to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
